Today the panel discuss the MCB’s report ‘Towards Greater Understanding - meeting the needs of Muslim pupils in state schools, Information & Guidance for Schools’, which provides guidance to schools in regards to the needs of Muslim pupils. he report has been welcomed by the National Headteacher’s Union but has come up for much criticism from sections of the media claiming that Muslims are demanding how ‘our’ schools should be run. Tahir Alam joins our guests for this interesting discussion.

On this weeks podcast the panel is joined by Ann from Scotland Against Criminalising Communities who speaks about her close relationship with some of the men under control orders and tells us the devestating effects it is having on them and their families. In addition, we discuss the arrest of nine Muslims in Birmingham who allegedly plotted to kindap a Muslim soldier and behaead him and finally we talk about a Commons committee’s findings that the international communitiy’s freeze on aid to the Hamas Government might be driving them into the arms of Iran.

We’re only just into February and it already seems 2007 is going to be more difficult a year than 2006 for Muslims. The panel discuss The Policy Echange report that ‘warned’ against politicised Muslims, David Cameron’s speech in which he criticised some Muslim groups for being mirror-images of the BNP and finally a word or two on Iraqi death squads.
